Home check

Home Check - Rate

 
MrFix helps you find a local builder not only to repair or improve your home: he can also prevent costly repairs by detecting and correcting hidden problems in time. We call it the MrFix Home Check: not an official structural survey but a quick check of your home regarding state of repair, maintenance, energy efficiency and safety.
 
Many people apply for a Home Check just before or after a move, but we advise you to do it periodically, say every 5 years. And if you are considering a significant refurbishment, the Home Check is the best way to get a first idea of costs, required experts and necessary permits.
 
The rate for a Home Check is €50 per hour including call-out charge and VAT. Together with you the expert will go through the relevant checklist and at the end will leave it to you. You decide whether you want to have any improvements carried out by our builder. If the expert has to work 4 hours or more after the Home Check, he will even offer the Home Check free .

Home Check - Reasons why

 
A Home Check is not mandatory like the one for your car, but it does make sense to do! To give you a few examples:

  • Make sure that your new home fits your requirements perfectly. And who knows, you and our builder may even discover hidden defects that can lower the purchase price 🙂
  • Conversely, make sure you discover hidden defects before you sell your house. This may avoid unexpected costs and delays to the sale
  • Discover small problems, such as leaks, while the damage (e.g. wood rot) is still limited. Do include wooden window frames and roof constructions in the check
  • To comply with rules of your building and contents insurance. Property insurers often require regular maintenance like regular sweeping of chimneys / annual maintenance of the central heating system. Keeping earth leakage switches in good order or timely cleaning of gutters and drain pipes can also play a role in the assessment of damage claims.

    Home Check – urgent

     
    Have there been any suspicious burglaries in your street lately? Or will your baby soon become an enterprising toddler who discovers the world by putting a pencil or pen into your power socket? MrFix can arrange a Home Check for you urgently. We charge a surcharge of 50% for jobs that must start within 24 hours, after 18h or during the weekend.
