Is your home child-safe? MrFix Child Safety Check!

 
MrFix finds you a local expert for checking your home regarding safety for children. We call it the MrFix Child Safety Check: a quick check of your home with specific child safety recommendations and if you wish followed by quick implementation.
 
Quite often people apply for a Child Safety Check just before or after a birth or move, but you can also do it before you are expecting guests with children (e.g. via AirBnB or otherwise). But always applies: It’s better to check (and improve) too early than too late.
 
The rate for a Child Safety Check is €55 per hour including call-out charge and VAT. The expert goes through the relevant checklist with you and leaves the list for you. Afterwards you decide whether you want to have any improvements carried out. If the expert works 4 hours or more for you after the Child Safety Check, he even offers the Child Safety Check free .
 

Aspects of the Child Safety Check

 
You decide which area / areas the expert focuses on during and after the Child Safety Check. Examples of aspects to be treated are:

• Are there corner protectors on all furniture with sharp angles?
• Are the doors fitted with finger protection strips?
• Does the hob have protection so the child can’t switch it on?
• Are medicines and (toxic) household items safely stored?
• Are windows on higher floors difficult to unlock?
• Are the lower power sockets child-proof?
• Are the electrical devices out of reach?
• Is a certified stair gate in place?
• Do ‘dangerous’ windows have lockable window handles?
• Are the bars of balconies and any window bars so close together that a child can’t fall between them?
• Are there anti-slip mats in the bathroom and living room?
• Are all cabinets that children must not access fitted with locks?
• Are all cabinets and wardrobes securely attached to the walls?

A Child Safety Check is not mandatory like the Dutch ‘APK’ check for your car, but it does make sense.

• The most important reason is of course to avoid the terrible situation of having an accident with your child or with a visiting child
• But it may also let you (and your child) sleep quietly
• It may also play a role regarding your liability (insurance) in case of an accident where a visiting child is involved.

Child Safety Check – urgent

 
Will your little baby soon become an enterprising toddler who discovers the world by putting a pencil or pen into your power socket? MrFix can arrange a Child Safety Check for you urgently. We charge a surcharge of 50% for jobs that must start within 24 hours, after 6 PM or during the weekend.

Tips for requesting your Child Safety Check:

• Add 1 or 2 photos: this is optional but helpful
• Add a “DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF JOB” if necessary
• Click “An expert ASAP”. Don’t click “First a quote” because after the Child Safety Check you can get a quote if you want to have jobs done for more than ~€500 / 1 day.
