Painting sector in confict with union about strikes legality

Michiel 7 October 2016

Painters and painting contractors argue

Employers and employees in the painting sector got into conflict over the legality of strikes. The source of this conflict is a letter from Wits Utrecht, a property maintenance employer. In the letter, staff members get an explanation of the rules on strikes. After the ultimatum set by a union is exceeded, employees have the right to lawfully strike.

Waiting for improvements in the painting sector

Since late last week, employers and employees are arguing over a new collective labour agreement. Last Friday, employers’ organization OnderhoudNL had downturned the proposed ultimatum defined by the FNV, resulting in relay strikes. The CNV joined these actions later this week.

At MrFix, painters or other handymen never strike

According to the FNV, employers in the painting sector would have hinted on dismissal if the strikes turned out to be unlawful. As a result, many painters did not dare to strike. It makes all the difference that our painters never strike! MrFix solely works with painters that are personally screened. They don’t strike, but do it right 1st time instead.
